4 FLAPJACK & WAFFLE TOPPING COMBOS TO TRY THIS WINTER

Whether you’re in the midst of the snowy season or have made a break for warmer weather, there’s no denying the best way to get through a winter day is with a hearty breakfast. That’s certainly how we start every day at Kodiak Cakes, but we like to mix things up when it comes to toppings and finishing touches depending on the season to keep things fresh. Here are a few of our favorite winter topping ideas to try on your next stack of flapjacks or waffles.

POMEGRANATES & DARK CHOCOLATE

A great way to give your waffles a little extra zip is to pair sweet and tart together with this Pomegranate Dark Chocolate Power Waffles recipe. After cooking a batch of our signature Dark Chocolate Power Waffles, top with fresh pomegranate seeds, dark chocolate bark, and a drizzle of our Kodiak Cakes Fruit Syrup. Not only do these toppings bring a burst of flavor to every bite, but they also offer a dose of antioxidants to help keep your immune system strong this winter.

ORANGES

Maybe pomegranates aren’t the easiest for you to get your hands on. Not an issue, our Orange Buttermilk Power Cakes recipe is another way to brighten up even the grayest winter day and can be found at just about any grocery store. This recipe features slices of orange and blood orange topped over a stack of Buttermilk Power Cakes. A bit of honey rounds out the flavors that give you an extra boost of Vitamin C.

GRAPEFRUIT

Speaking of citrus, another great waffle topper is grapefruit. This recipe for Grapefruit Power Waffles resembles the recipe above, but instead features our Kodiak Cakes Buttermilk and Vanilla Power Waffles and fresh grapefruit. We suggest sprinkling a pinch of sugar or a little bit of your favorite local honey on top to complement the tart taste of each grapefruit slice.

APPLES & CINNAMON

Looking for a more seasonal staple? If that’s the case, the delicious combo of apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon from this Cinnamon Apple Power Cakes recipe will warm you up from the inside out at breakfast this winter. This recipe is a crowd favorite and easy to make. Substitute coconut oil for butter or honey for sugar to make this an even healthier option for all ages.
