7 RECIPES TO COOK WITH THE FAMILY

In times like these, there’s nothing better than trying to stay optimistic. So, as we all do our part to flatten the curve, we can view these days at home as an opportunity to slow down and enjoy more time with family. For example, it’s not very often that you get to spend enough time at home to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner altogether, right? Cooking is one of several ways to bring your family together, and there’s no better time than now to test out new recipes that you’ve been wanting to try. Here are seven of our favorite recipes to help you get started!

CINNAMON PANCAKE FRENCH TOAST

Two of our favorite breakfast foods are pancakes and French Toast. But because bread is a little harder to find these days as grocery stores work tirelessly to keep their shelves stocked, we crafted this Cinnamon Pancake French Toast recipe so we can still enjoy both of these breakfast foods all in one dish. Is cinnamon not really your thing? The nice thing about this recipe is you can experiment with any of our Flapjack & Waffle mixes, and simply omit cinnamon from the egg mixture. After you cook the pancakes, busy your cubs with dipping them in the spiced egg batter before you brown them again on the griddle — French Toast style. Serve with fresh fruit and warm maple syrup to complete this breakfast dish.

PIZZA PINWHEELS

Fact: kids love pizza…and adults do too. These Pizza Pinwheels will make your kids feel like you’ve brought their classroom pizza party home, and making them is almost as fun as eating them. When you finish making the pizza dough, call on your little helpers to sprinkle on their favorite toppings before baking. Let these pinwheels cool for a few minutes before serving.

CINNAMON RAISIN GRANOLA

Have you ever thought about making your own granola at home? We created this Cinnamon Raisin Granola recipe to show just how easy it really is. Granola is as simple as combining rolled oats with some of your favorite nuts, seeds, spices, and dried fruit. In this recipe, we use Kodiak Cakes Cinnamon Oat Power Cakes to add some cinnamon spice and a little protein boost to each serving. Don’t like raisins? Try adding chocolate or yogurt chips after your granola has completely cooled after baking so they don’t melt.

BANANA CHOCOLATE CHIP MUFFINS

Need an idea to keep the cubs entertained after they finish up their schoolwork? Let them help you make a batch of these Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins. This recipe is the perfect combination of bananas and chocolate, and it only calls for four ingredients. Have the kids stir all the ingredients together and divvy up the batter while you handle the hot oven. Not only will this afternoon activity keep your kids busy for a bit, but they are also helping you prep a wholesome snack that the whole family can enjoy throughout the day. These muffins will keep for up to five days in an airtight container.

BEAR CHOW

If you start feeling restless at home, there’s no better fix than some fresh air. Before you head out the door, don’t forget to bring along some trail snacks so you can make the most of your outdoor adventure. This Bear Chow recipe is the perfect sweet treat to have on hand when you stop to catch your breath, and it's a family favorite that almost no one will pass up. Ready in just 10 minutes, this chow is a great option anytime you need a grab and go snack before hitting the trail.

CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

If there’s one dessert that’s fun to cook as a family, it’s Chocolate Chip Cookies. This recipe is easy to make and will have the kitchen smelling divine. A fun way to let each member of the family contribute is by dividing up the ingredients. Once each person has mixed their assignment into the bowl, together roll the dough into balls and place on a greased cookie sheet for baking.

CAKE BATTER BLONDIES

Kids love sprinkles and frosting, and this Cake Batter Blondie recipe has both. In more of a chocolate mood? Try using our Chocolate Power Cakes with chocolate sprinkles! You can even try substituting sprinkles with chopped nuts or chocolate chips. Swap any flavor of Kodiak Cakes Flapjack & Waffle Mixes instead of Buttermilk Power Cakes to make the blondie of your dreams. The options are endless.
